A personal choice for your carp fishing with the Korda Spring Bow Net Fishnet, combining aesthetics, function and price.
We were inspired by a classic model from the past. Available in the early '80s from a North London store, Dons of Edmonton. Their Springbow was a brown fiberglass net with a heavy stainless steel spreader tube, but it was the net of the day and the only serious choice for the carp angler of the day!
Today, the fashion seems to be for very thin handles, similar or matching the angler's carp rods.
We went completely against this trend. For performance, it was extremely important that the arms and rod had inherent rigidity. By having a very small-diameter rod, you increase the weight because you have to increase the wall thickness. A larger-diameter handle increases rigidity, is easier to use and more comfortable to hold. We can use a thinner wall section without having to compromise on strength or weight.
Our model features a 6-foot handle that tapers from 23 to 18 mm. Made from ultra-lightweight, high-performance carbon fiber with a superb satin black finish. With a beautifully turned 316 stainless steel tip at the end. This has created a net so light that when fully assembled and in use, it rests perfectly on the surface of the water without the need for any float.
One of the key points of the design was to create a spacer block that stood out. Something extremely light, very strong and unique in appearance. From concept to production, we updated the design four times over a period of around two and a half years. The final version is stunning to look at. Designed by our friends at JAG, elle is incredibly light, but above all very easy to use and assemble. When you present the arms to the block, you'll notice that it has a slight oval shape inside, so we machined the block to have what we call a leading edge. We've machined the block so that it has what we call a "leading edge". The arms emerge from the block at the perfect 91-degree angle, which, together with the use of the stiffest arms we could manufacture without compromising assembly, gives a truly lovely shape to each assembled fillet. Each arm has an oversized machined anodized aluminum rounded end, designed not to go through the net and damage it. This part holds the thick green cord between the arms, with zero stretch and a perfect curve in the arms, keeping everything as tight as possible and helping to reduce drag when pushed through the water.
The aluminum spacer block is machined on the front and rear faces (you can see the arms inside). This feature further reduces weight and gives the whole unit a chassis-like appearance. We added a small slot on the front to accommodate a 15 mm isotope(NOT included) and engraved the Spring Bow logo on the back. The final touch was to spray the block with a tough ceramic finish, Gun Smoke.
We made three versions, 42" 46" and 50". Each version comes with a medium-depth Hexmesh mesh. The net section is deep enough for the angler who chooses to sink the handle into the lake bed with arms far enough above the water to hold and prevent any carp from jumping free after capture!
If you live in continental Europe, two versions of the Spring Bow landing net are available, giving you the option of buying the net with either medium or shallow mesh. If you live in the UK, only the medium mesh version is available as a full version. The shallow mesh, on the other hand, can be purchased separately from our dealers.
Tous The nets are supplied in a hard-wearing Korda Dark Kamo pouch with separate handle and arm pockets.
